I will never respect Saiki K as a franchise nor the author, because Saiki's negative emotions are ridiculised and made into a joke. I disapprove of the way that Saiki's negative emotions are handled. This goes beyond being a gag manga, and it's not a gag manga, but that's beside the point.
I am not arguing that Saiki doesn't like his friends, just that when Saiki looks unhappy, he is actually unhappy. And I think that the way that the manga handles this lacks empathy.
This is also not a post about bashing Teruhashi. My point is that when Saiki's unhappy towards her, it's not nothing. The tsundere trope cannot justify it. No matter what you think, Saiki K is an unhealthy representation of Japanese culture, and its' way of thinking promotes the sexual harassment in Japan. No means no.
Here are the examples:
Saiki's panic attack in Chapter 108
If you look at what Saiki is doing, Saiki is clearly having a panic attack. He is clearly scared and says that his body reacted automatically, and he has a huge reaction.
Instead of acknowledging this, the fandom sees this as a joke, and this is treated as a joke and has no significance nor consequences within the story. The fandom and author have no empathy for Saiki's emotions.
The manga teaches you to ignore Saiki's emotions by using the tsundere trope. Not being able to do what he wants makes Saiki unhappy.
Tsundere trope
The tsundere trope is not just a joke, it is serious, like in chapter 92 where Saiki admits to being a tsundere.
If you look at Saiki's negative emotions, the tsundere trope is used to minimalise and ridiculise Saiki's emotions. Nobody is saying that Saiki isn't friends with them, it's just that when Saiki is unhappy, he is unhappy.
You don't have to trust Saiki's emotions. Of course he's not completely reliable but the extent that this is done is unreasonable.
Chapter 214
In chapter 214, Saiki is obviously unhappy.
Saiki is very obviously unhappy in this chapter. What Saiki does is that he threatens Aiura with threatening her if she doesn't stop. If you look simply at the tone he uses, he really wants Aiura to stop.
So who is the one who lacks empathy here? It's clearly the author, that already made Saiki's negative emotions as being ridiculous. If you look at the fandom, they justify this as this as the bullshit being "Saiki" liking people who are true to themselves.
But does this make sense? Saiki shows that he is very unhappy throughout the entire chapter. If anything, his "offu" shows that he is tired of everything that happened.
Chapter 280
Even as late as chapter 280, Saiki is very unhappy because he doesn't like Teruhashi forcing him to do things.
Sure, Saiki admires Teruhashi's abilities and working hard, but in the end, Saiki literally doesn't communicate with Teruhashi. Their relationship sucks and makes Saiki very stressed. This is literally the end of chapter 242.
Conclusion
So why do people still like SaiTeru? Because it is a fetish. SaiTeru represents everything that is wrong with Japanese culture and is the wrong way of analysing relationships. You can somewhat ignore negative emotions if they aren't serious and can be resolved, but you can't say they don't exist?
In Japan, many people are addicted to porn. In Japanese porn, it's common for no (yamete) to mean continue. Relationships should not reflect this, and Japanese culture is wrong.
So is it me that doesn't respect the author? Yes it is. But why should I respect the author when I know exactly what they are doing and disapprove it. Respect is earned, it doesn't come automatically, especially for someone who has handled their work badly and promotes unhealthy relationship ideas.
I've seen someone say that if Saiki died and became a ghost, it is possible that Saiki would be able to rewind time as a ghost back into his human form again. Is this true?
IT'S SOOO FUNNY AND UNDERRATED I'm just sad that s2 isn't dubbed 😞 and the subtitles are too fast especially when the characters are speaking over each other
Hello! From what I know, very few songs from the anime are on streaming services or Youtube. I was able to find some, but I can't find Psilent Prisoner at all, the closest being an Apple Music listing (I can't pay for it). Does anyone have the full song?
I FOUND IT, DISREGARD THIS POST

I feel like the tsundere trope is a very unhealthy trope, and not just because of the times when the characters would physically hurt their partner, but also because if you describe someone as a tsundere, I think it's just a way to say that you will ignore or downplay every negative emotion that they have. Unhappy face? No, he's not really unhappy. A fucking panic attack? no, it doesn't mean anything, they are a tsundere. Fuck this.
You might say that there are exceptions, but I think that it all promotes the same idea. I don't think it should even be an argument to say that a character is unhappy when their face is unhappy, but somehow, this has changed. I think that this is completely disgusting.
If you're playing a game with your friends and you lose and you get mad, you might rage quite a bit, and you probably won't break your friendship. But that doesn't mean that you weren't mad. That's what the people who use the tsundere trope seem to suggest. I think that the tsundere trope's base is about ignoring other people's negative emotions.
I think that the tsundere trope is a scam and a fetish, and if you use it in your life, you will fail. I think that the tsundere trope is evidence that using and believing in certain parts of Japanese culture can be harmful and that the worst offenders should be banned. Another example is Nagatoro, which is about bullying and teasing. I hate this, because I don't think that neither teasing nor bullying are good at all. You might say that people who watch it are smart enough to not repeat what they see, but when you make an anime and orient it towards teenagers or children, they will likely believe it. If you handle something in a bad way, then even if your intentions were good it all goes to shit.
After careful reflection, I believe that Anime and manga represents only a tiny part of Japanese culture and should not be promoted over actually listening to Japanese people when talking about learning Japanese. It's good to appreciate other cultures, but it's also good to realise that sometimes, what you see is clearly full of shit and cannot be defended by the culture, but is also a minority.

First time posting here. I know it's pretty dead, but...
I just thought it would be kind of funny if whenever Kusuo would transform into Kuriko, and different stuff like that, he would have to put on the clothes he would be wearing during the time he would be that person. So like, if he was going to transform into Kuriko, he would have to wear the girl's school uniform beforehand. Also it takes him two hours to transform, so he would be stuck in the girls uniform for two hours.
Saiki kusuo needs more attention fr
Fandom, when I tell you this, you never seem to understand, as you always respond by saying he's not physically in danger. I think I should make this clear how severe this is.
In chapter 108 when Saiki hangs out of a window to avoid Teruhashi, Saiki's emotions are ridiculised and made into a joke.
Panic attacks are not funny and should not be joked about. What is wrong with you? Do you think this is funny?
This is completely heartless and cruel. I hate this even more, because Saiki's emotions don't matter because of the tsundere trope being a serious trope. I think that Saiki should speak up. In any media, you have to reasonably guess if a character is happy or not. What Saiki K does is not reasonable at all.
Saying that someone is a "tsundere" and an unreliable narrator is horrible relationship advice and an extremely unrealistic and bad way to analyse characters. Saiki doesn't talk at all with Teruhashi, this is terrible. If you applied this to real life, you would make other people very upset.
This is why I hate Saiki K and its' author to the bottom of my heart.
Eueueuue I would come here everyday and rant about kaido…
I used to like Saiki K as a franchise, but I realised that the whole premise of the show is wrong. I don't like the tsundere trope, and how Saiki's emotions are treated.
The reason why is because of a very bad and unacceptable joke in chapter 108.
Saiki tries to hide away from Teruhashi by hanging out of a window to hide from her. This is treated as a joke.
This should not be a joke, especially given how severely Saiki reacts. What this essentially means is that Saiki's negative emotions don't matter, since it is done over and over again. This is a complete failure of communication.
This use of the tsundere trope is unacceptable. If you can use it to basically ignore everything that Saiki says, this gives a very bad idea of a relationship. I think that this is even harmful because it is promoting bad relationship advice.
The one response that I get over and over again is that it's a gag manga. This is the poorest argument, because,
1, if a comedy makes a truly awful joke, then it should be criticised and analysed.
2, there are many of examples of comedies using jokes to promote a political ideology by hiding it in a "joke". In this case, it's a harmful relationship ideology, but it works the same way.
3, Saiki isn't a gag manga. While it is true that it treats itself in a comic way in this part of the manga, in the Akechi arc, there are almost no jokes, and the ending and the possibility of all of Saiki's friends dying is treated seriously.
In conclusion, I think Saiki K as a franchise is used as a covert way to push a harmful fetish and bad relationship advice. As a result, I think that the whole premise of Saiki K is wrong.
