Long Summary[]

While walking to school, Kusuo Saiki talks about psychic abilities and how those who have it can do what they please and become a "god." He asks if anyone would want these abilities and that he personally does not since he already has them.

The first person to find out about his abilities was his father when he was a year old. While tossing him to the air, Kusuo stayed in the air by himself for 7 minutes. When playing peek-a-boo, Kusuo disappeared from his sight. When first speaking to his parents, he used telepathy (surprising even himself) to ask his mother to change his diaper. Time went on, now he is 15 years old, still has these abilities and thinks they are unnecessary.

Kusuo explains one of his abilities, telepathy. While it might be convenient for others, it is not all that great. He hears the thoughts of other students nearby that sound nice from when they speak, however their thoughts are the complete opposite. Kusuo advises to not use telepathy on the person you like as it is likely you will end up hating them. He then brings the example of a female helping the elderly, but with telepathy you hear her think that this was all a plot. Kusuo goes further to explain that he can not stop using it, he hears these thoughts at all times. With this, at a young age of 2, Kusuo felt some despair towards mankind and thought of destroying all of humanity. He does not think like that anymore due to his parents and the kind-hearted people around him. Kusuo then hears the thoughts of a female student from another school, wondering what is wrong with his head, and he flinches. The female walks past Kusuo, saying it looks gross. After a moment, Kusuo sighs and states he is not bothered by her comment. She turns around, finding that his head still looks weird and decides to secretly take a photo of him on her phone. Hearing this, Kusuo uses his telekinesis to make a gust of wind blow under her to make her skirt go upright. The female is confused and Kusuo walks away, stating no pictures of him are allowed.

Kusuo makes it to his school, PK Academy, and sits down at his desk. No one at the school knows he is a psychic and he can count how many who do know with just one hand. He explains when he was 4 years old, a nation found out about him and pursued him. He ended up destroying the whole nation and decided to hide his abilities. Thus, to hide his abilities, he tries to keep his distance from classmates however there are those who talk to him anyways.

Riki Nendou goes up to Kusuo, telling Kusuo to give him his homework so he can copy it. Kusuo introduces him as the class delinquent and that no one likes him. Riki is annoyed, thinking Kusuo can not hear him or ignoring him and grabs him. Kusuo imagines he tears all of Riki’s clothes up with his telekinesis to humiliate him, however he does not do so, Kusuo hands Riki his homework to not stand out. Besides he does not want to get involved with Riki and not care as much due to he copied the homework from someone else. Their teacher is soon to arrive at the classroom and Kusuo realizes they will not need the homework.

The teacher enters the classroom, the class representative is to lead the morning routine but the teacher tells them all to just sit down. He explains that yesterday he got several complaints from many students that they got their wallets stolen. The class is surprised. The teacher explains that the culprit is in this class and no one is allowed to leave until whoever is responsible confesses. The class erupts, saying that whoever it was should go up. Kusuo is surprised, not by what they are saying, but that they all, including the teacher, think the culprit is Riki. Kusuo then hears Riki’s thoughts, who is questioning himself if he did it as he is that sort of person. Riki then sees the class and the teacher glaring at him. The teacher goes up to him, getting way too close, saying he wonders who it was. Riki says he did not do it and everyone thinks he is lying. They keep shouting at him to give back their wallets and Riki is basically crying that he did not do it.

Kusuo questions what he should do. Riki took his homework, and does that every day, so Kusuo believes he is just getting what he deserves. He goes further to explain he is violent and the lowest of the low but he is at least better than someone else. A guy, who seemingly looks like Takahashi, complains to give them back their wallets but in his thoughts he is the true culprit. He figured everyone would believe Riki stole them and smiles. Kusuo hates him more than Riki and decides to use his psychic abilities to help. The culprit soon gets thoughts in his mind, it is Kusuo’s ability, Angel Whisper. When you are about to do something wrong, an angel and devil fight inside your head, with Kusuo’s telepathy he can make them appear even when the person does not feel any guilt. Basically, Kusuo is the voice of the angel, telling him to do the right thing. He tries to hit a soft spot, and finally does when he mentions the culprit’s grandparents. The culprit decides to confess. The class is surprised and the teacher tells him to come with him to the office.

Due to feeling sorry, no police were called and the culprit was only told to withdraw from the school. The school day ends, Kusuo is walking in the hallway and on his way to go home. He is glad he went through another day of no one finding out about his abilities and he hopes he does not go through another day like today again. Kusuo is then called by Riki and Riki asks him if he knew the culprit was the guy and not himself. Kusuo is surprised. Riki goes further to explain that Kusuo was glaring at the guy and that he probably saw him do the act. Kusuo relaxes, believing he was discovered and was going to erase Riki from existence, and just nods at him. Riki puts his arm around him, surprising Kusuo once again, and tells him thank you and that he is happy that Kusuo was on his side. Riki goes on to say that while the guy confessed, if it did not happen, Kusuo would have his back and that they are now friends. Students nearby hear and look at the exchange and state how disgusting they are.

Kusuo, annoyed and disgusted himself, then asks the reader what they think about the power of telepathy and if he showed how inconvenient it is. It gets idiots to like you but other than that it is useless. Riki then tells Kusuo that they should go get ramen.

In an omake, Kusuo and Riki are at the ramen restaurant and are about to pay for their meal. Riki finds out his own wallet is gone and is surprised. Kusuo, looking unphased, wonders if Riki’s wallet was stolen too.

Trivia[]

  • In the cover of the magazine and the color page, Kusuo's hair color is different compared to the main series, just like in first one-shot of the series, which is the previous chapter. His hair color seemingly looks brown or a dark red color.
  • The part where Kusuo talked about his father taking care of him when he was younger was remade and slightly revised 3 years later in an extra comic in Shōnen Jump NEXT! Vol 1, 2015. It was then published as extra content for Volume 13.
    • Instead of floating in the air by himself, Kusuo brought along Kuniharu for the ride.
  • When making the female’s skirt go upright, it is highly likely a reference to the well known image of Marilyn Monroe’s dress blowing upright.
