Long Summary[]

In a seemingly ordinary day, Riki and Shun argue over an unknown subject’s particular color at the shoe lockers. Riki yells it is red but Shun calls him dumb and that it is blue. Them, along with Kusuo, enter the school and find the hallway empty of students. One of them questions if it is Sunday but the other reasons there are shoes in lockers. They enter their classroom, suddenly relieved, but then are suddenly confused. All the students are gloomy. Riki questions if their class finish died and Shun reminds him that they do not have a class pet. They ask Takahashi what is going on. He tells them to not bother him, he is not in a mood to talk. They still question him about why everyone is gloomy. Takahashi then points to Kokomi's empty desk, and informs them that she is not here, she is out with a cold. Riki and Shun are shocked by this news, Kusuo questions why they have this reaction.

Students stare at Kokomi’s empty desk and talk about how worried they are. Other students are upset to not see her and how they feel worthless for not being able to help her. Kusuo, sitting at his desk, wonders if they all are over exaggerating. He can not believe all of them are depressed over one person being absent. For him, it is common knowledge that Kokomi would obviously catch a cold at times. He then hears Riki and Shun depressed about it and is surprised that they too would be upset over this. A student starts to cry, others reason with him. The guy states how they would understand his feeling of losing her but another tells him that it would bring her back to them. Others then start to cry. Kusuo questions, based on their wording, if she is somehow dead. Kusuo then sighs, realizing that the class indeed would fall apart just for Kokomi not attending.

Sawakita yells that there is no point in going to school and someone tries to calm him down. Kineshi tells his classmates to stop feeling down and reassure them that she will probably return the next day. He then shares a picture of Kokomi in a frame and states they should put her picture up to make them feel better. Students love the idea. They suggest they put it on her desk and another suggests they should put flowers to brighten the mood. They then put the photo and a vase of flowers on her desk, making Kusuo question, again, if she is dead. A student reminds the others that their teacher will come in soon so they should return to their seats. Kusuo suggests they should clean that up before the teacher arrives, otherwise they will have a serious class meeting.

Their first period was assigned to be self study. Students think the teacher is depressed too and Kusuo tells them to not think lightly of school. Others start thinking they should not have class and others agree that they are in no mood to learn. School is confused on what they are saying since they should have class. A student points out to look outside. A student comments that the heavens are crying and other student comments that nature is upset too. Kusuo tells them it is only rain and just decides to focus on studying. Chiyo, upset, questions if Kokomi will be at school tomorrow. They question her and tell her that she will. She reasons that they do not know about a cold, if it is bad she may not be at school tomorrow. They all start to panic, knowing she is right and talk about how bad it would be if she missed two days. Kusuo questions how they go through Sundays.

Shun questions how sure it is that she has a cold. Students question him. Shun reasons it could be a rumor that she has a cold just based on her not attending. They start to wonder where they heard the news and realized they heard it from others. Kusuo then says it is a cold and has used clairvoyance to confirm it. Kokomi is at her bed, sick. Her brother, Makoto, is worried and asks her if she wants a suppository. She tells him to leave her alone. Having seen what is going on, Kusuo states he is unsure she will be better by tomorrow. Students start to reason it may not be cold, it could be a family emergency and they are certain she is to come to school tomorrow.

Shun then wonders if what Kokomi has is not an illness but something else. Kusuo wonders if he is trying to make the situation worse. Shun continues by saying that she may not return to school again. Everyone goes into shock and goes to argue with him. Suddenly, they all start to think of the same phrase, “Beautiful women die young” and they all go silent. Kusuo is surprised and tries to tell them that she has a cold like they originally thought. A student then yells and scares other students. The guy explains that he imagined Shun’s thoughts of her having an incurable illness. Other students start to imagine the exact same, Kokomi in a hospital room, crying and fearing death, as well as her not being able to breath and her asking them to not forget her. All students then start to yell and cry, Kusuo tells them to shut up. They yell at how sad it is but Kusuo states that they need to calm down since it is a regular cold. Kineshi goes outside in the rain, yells at the sky, telling god to take him instead of Kokomi. Kusuo is impressed but repeats that she only has a cold. Shun tries to tell them it was just an argumentative perspective, Kusuo blames him that they all are reacting this way.

Kusuo starts walking the halls of PK Academy. He hears many speak about the possibility of Kokomi not coming to school tomorrow and having an incurable illness. Kusuo realizes that the reaction has gone way too out of hand. Too many exaggerated rumors started spreading and since people are too worried the story becomes more negative. He is surprised that they all got worked up about only one person, her, being absent for one day. A student gets out of their room and asks him if he is in the same class as Kokomi. He looks panicked and then asks if Kokomi has passed away. Kusuo realizes everyone has reached the final conclusion.

Kusuo heads to the roof of the school, not being able to sit back with how bad the reaction has gone. A student, near the guard railing, is upset that Kokomi has passed. Thinking the world is not worth living anymore, he attempts to fall. Kusuo chops him, telling him that he will not see her there and renders him unconscious. Kusuo decides he has to do something before their reaction gets worse and removes his limit device. He then tells the entire school that Kokomi has a cold. Everyone starts to calm down, believing it is a cold and wonder why they all over reacted. Kusuo then puts his limit device back on his head, knowing he has calmed down everyone for today. He believes if she does not come back tomorrow, however, he will not be able to stop everyone so he just needs to do one final thing.

At the Teruhashi residence, Makoto is still in panic and worried about Kokomi. Kusuo teleports behind him, chops him and says that he is being annoying and should leave. Makoto goes unconscious and Kusuo grabs him. Kusuo knows that he is worried but he is making it worse and that she needs rest. He sees Kokomi and tells her that he needs her to get better for the sake of the school. Kokomi slightly opens one of her eyes, relieved that it has finally become quiet. She is then confused, her vision blurry, and questions if she sees Kusuo. She then closes her eyes, smiling, believing it was not him.

The next day, Kokomi walks into the classroom and wishes them a good morning. All students are happy and ask her where she was yesterday. She explains she had a cold yesterday and they are glad that she is better now. Shun, next to Kusuo, sees them and says how everyone is livelier when she is around. Kusuo believes they are too lively but it is normal for all of them. Students speak about how they should not have class on a great day like today. Agreeing, they decide they should throw a party and are excited when they all have self study again. Kusuo is surprised that nothing has really changed. At his home, Makoto caught Kokomi’s cold. He wonders where she is and asks her to give him a depository while coughing.
