Hearing a commotion near his house, Kusuo decides to go and check it out. It was a festival, and Kusuo has a flashback about the time when he was little, where he and his family had a great time. Kusuo then thinks about how his Telepathy was useless in such a large crowd of people. As he hoped that he won't run into anyone he knew, he saw Riki, who was arguing with a stall owner that his Takoyaki had no octopus inside. He goes down another street to avoid Riki, only to see Shun appraising a cork gun. Finally, he sees Kineshi on a portable shrine coming down the path. Kusuo decides to go home as he thought he would start hating festivals if he stayed any longer. He goes to buy a candied apple first before going home, but suddenly realises that his wallet was gone. Just then, Takahashi, who was standing near him, yelled out in shock as he noticed that his wallet was gone too, and claims that he was pickpocketed. Kusuo silent criticizes Takahashi's idiocy for not being careful when walking around crowded areas. However, it suddenly dawned on him that he, too, was pickpocketed. Kusuo breaks down slightly at the thought that he, an Esper, was just pickpocketed, and that he was on the same level as an idiot like Takahashi. Kusuo swore to take his revenge, and formulates a plan to find the pickpocket. Meanwhile, the pickpocket was walking away, thinking about his good haul this year, when suddenly, an old motorcycle falls from the sky and lands on him, causing him to fall due to the heavy weight. The stolen wallets scattered all over the floor, causing a commotion. Shocked, the pickpocket gathered up the fallen wallets and ran towards a patch of woods to escape the crowd. He ran straight into Kusuo, who was wearing an Oni mask as a disguise and waiting for him. Kusuo explains that he had Apported an abandoned bike, causing it to switch places with his stolen wallet. The heavy bike had caused the pickpocket to fall, causing a commotion. Kusuo then uses Clairvoyance to look for a commotion and managed to find the pickpocket easily. Terrified, the pickpocket pulled out a knife, warning Kusuo not to get any closer. Kusuo uses Telekinesis on the blade, which bends and pricks the Pickpocket's hand. Shocked, the pickpocket drops the knife, and Kusuo moves forward, threatening and scaring the latter out of his wits. He ends up turning himself in while Kusuo goes around returning the wallets, using Psychometry to find the correct owners. |
