After being reject from multiple clubs, Reita tries to create his own club, the Occult Club, in order to attract girls. To make way for this, he recruits Kusuo unwillingly and posts a flyer but every student feels creeped out by it.

After Reita explains the suspension bridge effect to Kusuo as part of his plan to get girls, the pair move to the audiovisual room, the club's meeting room. There they met a first-year student, Arisu, who is a huge occult fanatic. Deeming her unattractive, Reita implicitly rejects her by telling her she is in the wrong club room. At the same moment, Shun appears with intentions of being a part of the club, too. Reita rejects him as well on the terms of men not being allowed to join.

Chiyo then enters the audiovisual room, saying she also hopes to join the Occult Club. In reality, she simply wants to be in the same club as Shun, a fact Shun is completely oblivious to despite how obvious it is. When Reita reveals Shun can't join, Chiyo announces she is quitting Reita's club in favor of starting her own with Shun and Arisu. Reita begrudgingly changes his decision and allows Shun to join his club.

Seeing as how they all gathered into the room, Kusuo uses his powers to scary the others to test the validity of suspension bridge effect Reita had previously mentioned. After sufficiently scaring he use his affection meter he checks the affection the other members have for each other. Chiyo's affection for Shun remains high at 95 but Shun's affection for her is only 52. Her affection drops to 81 upon seeing him cowering in fear. Disappointed with those results, Kusuo comments that he shouldn't have bothered but is shocked to see Reita's affection towards Arisu reach 98. Kusuo ends with saying the suspension bridge effect is too powerful.
