Saiki Kusuo's Clones are the doubles of main protagonist Saiki Kusuo. The most recognizable clone of Kusuo is his 4th clone, Ashio, whom was drawn by one of Asou Shuuichi's assistants.[1]

Background[]

Saiki Kusuo has the ability to clone himself about 37 times. Each clone has their own individual personalities and traits.[2] They all have nearly the same abilities as Kusuo, such as telepathy, and are equal in power.

History[]

The clones first appeared when Kusuo was having another attempt at stopping the volcano, Mt. Owari, this time accompanied with Aiura Mikoto. The clones, at the time, were only named with a letter in the alphabet B-E (with A being Kusuo himself.) Mikoto thought they looked pretty off and was a bit displeased. Mikoto used her fortune telling ability to find out what was the next spot for an eruption, leaving each clone at each spot. The plan nearly worked until Kusuo E (later named Ashio) went to go get a snack.

They come back when Kusuo was trying to have a better grasp at his cloning ability, not wanting to have a repeat of what happened with Ashio. It is shown that by the 25th clone, the glasses and limiter no longer show up, in the 30th clone they longer look human, and by the 37th clone, it does not take a human form. Some clones take orders as they are told but some are rebellious, like Ashio. To continue on experimenting the ability he brings out Ashio, telling him to go get mirin at the store. Ashio is able to enter the store however he runs into Nendou Riki, Kusuo telling him to come back immediately. Riki is able to tell right away the differences, but as an idiot, he did not connect any dots that he is a clone. Ashio tries to get away but Riki is able to catch up to him. Having enough, Ashio makes a plant fall nearly ontop of Riki but Kusuo stops the plant from hitting him. With Riki distracted, Kusuo and Ashio switch places.

The latest time they appeared was at the final attempt at stopping the volcano, this time with 10 clones. Just like the previous attempt, Mikoto uses her ability to tell them where is the next eruption. She calls them by specific names and gotten used to them. They all finally manage to pull it off.[3] The clones soon afterwards accidentally ruined Kusuo's chance to hide his abilities from the others.[4]

Trivia[]

  • The clones that have names all have the 雄 kanji in the end, that Kusuo has. The names are derived from their unique appearance feature. For example Debao, is from the word 出っ歯 (Deppa) meaning buck tooth.
    • It is possible that Mikoto named them as she makes nicknames on the spot
  • At an attempt to hide Kusuo's abilities, Toritsuka Reita whom looked like Kusuo at the time due to hypnosis, said he, Kusuo and the clones were sextuplets, making a reference to the series Osomatsu-san.
